چکیده
This study explores the effects of increased economic policy uncertainty (EPU) in both importing and exporting countries on manufacturing value-added exports. The results show that EPU would result decreases trade flows, negative effect exporters' is larger than importers' EPU. Our also provide evidence influence channels: affects flows primarily through cost to export, while market demand. conclusion robust a series robustness checks.

Integrating Activity-based Costing and Economic Value Added in Manufacturing
* Earlier version presented at ASEM 98. Accepted to Engineering Management Journal. Abstract This article presents a cost and performance measurement system that integrates activity-based costing (ABC) with the economic value added financial performance measure. This proposed ABC-and-EVA system is a management support tool for managing cost and capital. The integrated ABC-and-EVA system include...
متن کاملTrade Policy Uncertainty and Exports: Evidence from China’s WTO Accession
To understand the effects of trade policy uncertainty on firm-level export decisions, we study firm-product data on Chinese exports to the U.S. in the years surrounding China’s 2001 WTO accession. Following predictions based on a model of heterogeneous firms, we provide empirical evidence that product-level tariff uncertainty reduction spurred a notable reallocation of export activities across ...
متن کاملPolicy options for value added to different levels of production
This paper presents an analytic procedure for the value added to different production levels with different policy options. The approach is stochastic and thus provides a framework for informed decision-making on productivity growth under uncertainty conditions. The model was applied to data collected from a firm and re-sults recommend that the firm should redevelop if in diversification and sy...
متن کاملTeacher heterogeneity , value added and education policy ∗
This study examines the theoretical and practical implications of ranking teachers with a one-dimensional metric when teacher effectiveness varies across subjects or student types. We document the empirical failure of standard value-added assumptions of teacher input homogeneity, but demonstrate that previously suggested teacher firing policies still improve student welfare, although they resul...

can provide valuable information for evaluating and compensating teachers. Education researchers have recently recognized that easily quantifiable characteristics— including postgraduate education, experience, college quality, certification, and even scores on standardized tests—do not capture much of the variation in the quality of instruction as measured by the contribution to learning. This ...
